I like to try different techniques when working. In this piece, I wrapped the tank top around a piece of cardboard and painted on it as if it were a canvas. I used tools that have different edges, paintbrushes and my fingers to create the different textures.

To create this, I placed the tank top on a table and painted on it. When the front was finished and left to dry, I turned it over and painted the back.

I like treating clothes as if they are a piece of paper or a canvas. I put it on a table and then paint on it. I see it as ‘another painting’ and think the idea of wearing a painting very exciting. It will be like a living piece of art in my eyes – or a form of public art. This makes more sense to me than a piece of art being in a home. I like that, in this way, it is more accessible to more people.

I started painting this inspired by this large succulent in the garden which I have always loved. It is so expressive - just bursting with life. I think it's a beautiful plant.

I started from that point and then the piece evolved. I find this way of painting to be very satisfying.

This was created in various stages. The tank top was hung, pinned and folded on 2 parallel clothes-lines at varying heights to create a form that I found pleasing. Different solutions of paint were then poured on to it. It was then left to dry and this process was repeated a few times. Brushwork and stamping were done throughout the entire process and at the end to complete the design.

I did this piece in the way that inkblot drawings are made - paint was applied and then the tank top was folded. It was then left to dry and paint was applied and the top folded a few times, in various ways and at different scales. (The designs at the bottom were created by small folds as opposed to the large design at the centre.) This was repeated to create the look on the back.
