Abstract expressionist piece that feels inspired by the plan drawings that I did when I studied Landscape Architecture - which I loved and which stayed with me (in this, paving stone paths lead to different areas and textures) and framing of the whole piece in a shape that isn't a clean rectangle.

'I had enough of COVID - looking for another planet to live on.' Kavir Mootoo and Abhishek Gupta, 2022. Fabric paint and bleach on 100% organic cotton, union-made T-shirt.

Collaboration with artist and chef, Abhishek Sengupta. This Hand-painted One-off 100% organic cotton, union-made T-shirt is seen as a piece for a special occasion - we love the look of black with bits of gold, silver and metallic red shine for a comfortable, relaxed but dressy look.

As with all clothes, it can be altered over time to create new looks by more art being added, by adding appliques, by cutting, etc, etc - the possibilities limited only by one's imagination. #makeitlast !

About the process….I learnt once a great lesson about working with others on a creative project. I was painting some fabric for a friend years ago. As could happen, I was nervous and unsure of what to do. He told me to 'play myself' meaning to 'do my thing' and that meant he trusted me. This is all I needed. I loved being validated like that.

Abby and I did the same with this. Our styles are different but we felt eager to do something together - to explore and meet somewhere - wherever that would be.

This is one of a set of pieces where I attempt to raise awareness of the dangers we face as the planet warms up and the ice caps melt.

Library Corner is at the top of a hill in San Fernando, Trinidad - not far from the sea (see photos below). It's 2025 and the sea level has risen drastically all over the world and we've lost many coastal areas in Trinidad. Library Corner stands quite high above the sea and we thought we were safe. An earthquake just off the coast set off a tsunami - water now almost covers the clock tower at Library Corner.

This piece of wearable art can be a great conversation starter for everyone wanting a safer, more secure, habitable future!
